Job details:

  • The University of Central Lancashire is about to commence a new exciting phase of our ongoing Estate Strategy, and we are seeking to recruit a proactive and customerfocused Maintenance Supervisor (Buildings) to join our growing Estates Services & Capital Projects team based in Preston.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager (Mechanical), you will be responsible for providing a responsive building maintenance service for the University which will contribute to the care, quality, and upkeep of the developing University estate.

Your overarching aim will be to develop and maintain a safe, welcoming, inclusive and sustainable environment for all who study, work or live in UCLan, including students, staff, visitors and partners - contributing to the attraction, recruitment and retention of students and staff.

You will have served a recognised trade apprenticeship in a building services discipline and be qualified to ONC/D (or Ofqual equivalent) and IOSH Managing Safely standard.

You will be able to carry out most of the maintenance and minor improvement tasks yourself - providing an initial response to requests via the Estates Helpdesk.

You will also coordinate and supervise larger and more complex maintenance and improvement works via approved contractors.

You will also plan and manage small construction projects to improve the estate and the student experience, including developing specifications, budgets, and programmes of work.

You will be very organised and flexible in your approach to work; having the ability to work both independently and as part of the wider Estates Services & Capital Projects team, and able to work occasional evenings or weekends to meet the business need.

If you meet all the essential criteria contained within the person specification and you are interested in joining us at this exciting stage of our developmental journey, then we would like to hear from you.
