We are excited to announce a new opening for a Food and Beverage Supervisor at Birkbeck, University of London. As a renowned institution, we pride ourselves on our commitment to providing a high-quality academic and working environment.

This role is an opportunity to join our dedicated team and contribute to our thriving catering units and hospitality function.

As a Food and Beverage Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising day-to-day operations in our catering units or hospitality venues to drive quality and sales.
  • Preparing food and drink in line with recipes and assisting chefs where appropriate.
  • Inducting, motivating, and training the team via informal onthejob training.
  • Ensuring all equipment used is in safe working order and any faults are reported to management.
  • Complying with all legislation, college policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ordering stock in line with agreed policies and procedures, ensuring good stock rotation and conducting stock takes.
  • Assisting catering management with daytoday operational matters.
  • Understanding of food and beverage retail operation.
  • Experience in a café, restaurant, or bar.
  • Experience of supervising a team and coordinating an operation.
  • Level 3 Food Safety Certificate or willing to work towards it within the first 6 months of employment.

Remuneration
Annual salary of £26,668, rising to £29,392.

Grade 3 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
