    Head of Fundraising

    We have a great opportunity available for an enthusiastic, resourceful, and highly organised Head of Fundraising to join our dynamic and caring team. You will be making a positive difference every day and supporting the future growth and development of the Trust. You will be responsible for ensuring diverse and sustainable income streams, budget management, line management and strategic work.

Passion, and an ability to inspire support, for our mission - to inspire breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of children with cancer, concentrating particularly on those with rare aggressive cancer types and where children receive a diagnosis of cancer, to ensure that no family fights cancer alone. The ability to empathise and communicate effectively about our work with children and families is key.

    Whilst strong experience in fundraising is key, we would be delighted to hear from ambitious and motivated Senior Fundraising professionals who are now looking ready to make the step up to Head of Fundraising. It is an exciting role where you will get to help shape your team.

    This is a great role for someone with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, who is looking to bring their aptitude for organisation, attention to detail and the ability to inspire others.

    Job Description Summary

    Responsible for devising, managing, implementing and delivering a fundraising strategy of income-generating activities with the aim of meeting or surpassing income targets whilst ensuring that the values of the Trust are honoured, and its outstanding reputation maintained. This role is critical in enabling the Trust to deliver on its mission:

    · To inspire breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of children with cancer, concentrating particularly on those with rare or aggressive cancer types; and

    · To ensure that no family fights childhood cancer alone.

    Location:

    This role is a position based mainly our offices in Upton Snodsbury. Consideration will be given to requests for occasional remote working where this would be helpful for the completion of specific tasks and to the role holder.

    Principle Responsibilities

    Strategy & Planning

    · Working in partnership with the CEO and the Income Generation Trustee working group to develop and deliver a Strategic Plan that will ensure multi-year sustainable income and will include the creation and implementation of both a Fundraising Strategy and a Communications Strategy.

    Team Management

    · Induct, motivate and direct members of the Fundraising and Communications Team to deliver in their roles. This will require setting clear expectations about how they contribute to the success of the Trust, ensuring that team members have the skills and resources necessary to complete tasks, and providing clear, timely, constructive feedback on progress.

    · Foster a culture within the team that reflects the Values of the Trust and ensures that all can contribute positively to its success.

    · Continually review the skills and capabilities of all team members to ensure that they are both developing and delivering in roles, providing support to close emerging gaps. This includes annual appraisals and regular 1:1s.

    · Responsible for the recruitment, selection, and retention of fundraising and communications team members and charity volunteers.

    · Responsible for the coaching of the team you line manage will be a key element for success.

    Monitoring & Reporting

    · Preparation and monitoring of income and spending of Fundraising and Communications budgets for the Trust, including the preparation of detailed, well-evidenced forecasts for review by Trustees.

    Events, Campaigns & Income Generation

    · Maximise income generation from all sources and attain an overall target income for the Trust, in line with quarterly targets. This will require both optimising current income streams and continually identifying a range of new income streams.

    · Lead on Trusts and Grant applications for the Trust and be the main liaison for external Trust and Grant support. Ensure accurate recording of successful trusts and grant applications, terms and conditions, and timing of reporting.

    · Together with the charity fundraiser and communications officer, organise creative and innovative fundraising campaigns and events – ensuring we respond to trends within the sector.

    · Where external suppliers are used, ensure that appropriate procurement procedures are followed, work is clearly contracted, and that suppliers are managed to ensure delivery in line with expectations.

    · Develop partnerships with businesses, community groups, and the general public.

    · Liaise with local media organisations and work alongside the Communications Officer to raise awareness and promote the Trust.

    · Represent the Trust at external events.

    Donor Retention

    · Develop our retention activities to ensure donors remain financially committed to our cause and are advocating for our work.

    Governance

    · Ensure fundraising policy and procedures are in place and adhered to.

    · Understand the functionality of salesforce and ensure that all staff are recording fundraising data appropriately and in line with GDPR.

    · Follow the Trust's policies and procedures and comply with Charity Commission regulations.

    · Adhere to I.O.F. and Fundraising Regulator code of practices.

    EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

    · Have experience as a manager in a fundraising team with responsibility for leading, line managing, setting targets, effective delegation of tasks and projects, directing and monitoring the daily activities of others and facilitating professional development.

    · Creating and implementing a strategy to ensure diverse and sustainable income streams are in place.

    · Experienced in budget management

    · Significant experience in the planning and delivery of fundraising events and/ or campaigns

    · Excellent organisation and management skills

    · Good project management skills

    · Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively – orally and in writing – at all levels and with a range of stakeholders.

    · Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to get the best from suppliers

    · Skilled in report writing

    · IT literate, including good knowledge Microsoft Office Suite

    · Good working knowledge of social media platforms

    · Experience in utilising a CRM in a charitable setting

    · Ability to engage with groups large and small through presentations and similar.
