What you will be doing

We have an opportunity to join our London team as an Underwriting Operations Assistant.

In this exciting role, you'll be responsible for an Underwriting Operations Assistant to provide administrative support to the Underwriting divisions.

This will assist the Underwriters in underwriting both new and existing business on behalf of NorthStandard on a profitable basis.


Your key duties will include:

  • Setting up and maintaining accurate data entries for members and ships in all parts of the underwriting systems.
  • Producing documentation and submitting underwriting declarations.
  • Responding to routine enquiries.
  • Carrying out sanction checks and updating the sanctions system daily with underwriting information.
  • Administration of underwriting systems and databases to support the Underwriting Operations function.
  • Liaising with underwriting contacts in each division.
  • Carrying out production of reports and data analysis.
  • Producing renewal statistics.
  • Updating the underwriting systems with renewal terms changes and producing all relevant documentation appropriate to the entry.
Your profile

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys what they do and has a determined 'can do' attitude. A confident communicator, you should also be able to liaise and communicate effectively with internal and external partners.


Ideally, you'll have:

  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Desire to gain knowledge and experience.
  • Ideally you will have previous administrative experience in an insurance company.
  • Be educated to at least GCSE A level or equivalent.
