Job summary:


An opportunity has arisen to join TCoS as an Executive Officer (EO) to work alongside other EOs and Administrative Officer (AO) within a fast paced processing hub.

Additionally, there will be some line management responsibilities for AOs within the team.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:

The role is varied and wide ranging, duties will include:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of policies, processes and procedures relevant to TCoS
  • Processes carried out by the TCoS teams include:
  • Termination tasks
  • Promotion tasks
  • Change of Engagement/Further Service tasks
  • Employment Review Boards tasks
  • Engage with complex case work as directed by SO2 TCoS
  • Support AOs with challenging queries from customers and stakeholders
  • Mentor and train new starters
  • Allocate tasks within the team to ensure that all requests are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Be prepared to carry out daytoday TCoS tasks to support the operational output of the team
  • Carry out maintenance and management checks on TCoS registers/spreadsheets on a regular basis. Ensure AOs are carrying out their weekly checks
  • Run JPA/Scio reports, analyse the information and identify any data cleansing or rectification work required.
  • Allocate suitable data or rectification projects to team AOs
  • Effectively analyse data and source statistical information for Freedom of Information or Service Complaint requests
  • With other EOs, manage and update the TCoS SharePoint on Line (SPOL) sites
  • With other EOs, manage and update the TCoS website page
  • Liaise with the digital development teams to facilitate digitisation of TCoS processes
  • Engage with external stakeholders as required
  • Cover for SO2 TCoS and the other SO3 TCoS as required
  • Carry out other duties, commensurate with your grade and appropriate to the work of TCoS, as detailed by Line Management

Person specification:


This role is suited to someone who is highly organised, confident in using IT and enjoys being part of a high performing team.


  • A broad familiarity with the Armed Forces and the RAF in particular with some knowledge of RAF organisation and terminology.
  • Strong IT skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and SharePoint. Experience using databases and previous experience of utilising JPA is desirable.
  • Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to prioritise effectively balancing the needs of the team and customer base.
