Description

Job Purpose


As part of the Field Engineering team you will provide a high level ICT Operational Support Service to the clients of Arden GEM CSU.


To deploy any computer based device to the customers desk, those being Laptops, Toughbook's, Tablets and other Mobile devices or Telephones.

To investigate enquiries providing assistance and advice as required to Arden GEM clients at a user level.


Provide 1st and 2nd line support to include initial logging of faults from customers, simple diagnostic testing and forwarding and appropriate work queue / technician.

To actively assist in maintaining LAN and WAN infrastructure of customer organisations to ensure they have maximum availability.


To assist in the training of temporary IT staff or contractors, or allocate work to junior staff members within the IT department.

(I.e new staff members).


Education / Training / Qualifications:

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience (4 years).

Demonstrable commitment to personal and professional development including willingness to undertake professional study.


Experience & Knowledge
Have an in depth knowledge of the following technical areas:

  • PC hardware architecture
  • Device Security
  • Hardware Configuration
  • Software Configuration
  • Asset Management
  • Network configuration
  • Server implementation
  • Mobile device deployment and personalisation

  • Is well organised and practical, with a logical, analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Pays careful, close attention to detail. Is skilled in installing one or more items of hardware and software. Reliable/conscientious.

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative. Able to anticipate wider consequences of decisions and know when to refer upwards. Attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Confidence to take decisions at the appropriate level. Meets targets and fulfilling agreements even when adverse circumstances prevail within time restraints.c
