- To be responsible in the cleaning of food production areas and equipment in a manner that satisfies leading industry standards in all aspects of Food Quality, Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- To strip, clean and rebuild machinery to ensure that production schedules are maintained.
- Achieve the targets and job standards set by the Hygiene Supervisor.
- Comply with all legal and company food handling and hygiene requirements.
- Comply with and maintain health and safety requirements.
- To work to a high standard always ensuring attention to detail to ensure that documented cleaning procedures are maintained.
- To be flexible in terms of contractual hours.
- Immediately report any machinery defects which may have an impact upon production schedules.
- To check and countersign Hygiene documentation, to validate that it is completed correctly, accurately and at the prescribed times required.
- To ensure that all the Hygiene Team work to prescribed methods, speed, and quality.
- Address breaches of company policy and procedure with relevant employees and to ensure performance or behaviour is improved and good discipline is maintained.
- Liaise with the Hygiene Supervisor on a daily basis to manage the day to day cleaning requirements and report any issues.
- Liaise, where appropriate, with the Shift Production Supervisor to prioritise production requirements.
- Completion of periodical refresher training in 'safe chemical handling'
- Delegate hygiene duties as appropriate.
- A good level of numeracy and literacy.
- Ability to follow and give instructions.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
- Successful completion of company induction, which includes basic food hygiene and health & safety.
- To have a good degree of manual dexterity.
- To adopt good manual handling practices as and when required.
- Excellent communication skills, to include verbal and written English.
- Ability to safely handle chemicals.
- Experience of working in a hygiene environment.
- Successful completion of training in relevant tasks.
- Supervisory/team leader skills.
- Knowledge of health & safety within the working environment.
