    Control and Instrumentation Department Head - TRIS

    As part of the TUV family Risktec Resourcing have been tasked to assist our sister company TUV Rheinland Industrial Services (TRIS) formerly ABB's UK technical engineering consultancy to source a Electrical Department Head on a permanent basis in their Billingham, UK Office.

    Role Description
    The suitable person must be a qualified instrument & control engineer (prefferably chartered) with a min 10 years experience.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage and lead the instrument & control Engineering Team.
    • Supervise and allocate work to engineers and designers.
    • Prepare scopes of work and estimates to support proposals.
    • Deliver the engineering design scope to budgets and programmes and co-ordinate/liaise with other Engineering disciplines/client/package vendors.
    • Design authority for all instrument & control and prepare, check and/or approve design calculations, specifications, data sheets, reports, scope of work and drawings to British/International Standards and Codes of Practice.
    • Monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and client standards and provide specialist design input to 3D models.
    • Prepare Technical Analysis of proposals provided by equipment manufacturers and contractors and interpret vendor and other discipline drawings/information.
    • Attend and participate in safety reviews, risk reviews, planning reviews, model reviews and constructability reviews.
    • Identify and raise scope changes.
    • Comply with Company Quality Manager Systems.
    • Other professional duties as reasonably required.

    Key skills required include:

    • Background in Heavy Engineering/Chemical/Petrochemical/Oil & Gas Industries preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of instrument & control experience, preferably in oil & gas, chemicals and/or other high hazard process industries
    • Appropriate Technical Engineering Degree and preferably a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate institution
    • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
    • Ability to allocate work appropriately to design staff and monitor progress to meet project needs
    • Ability to work in both design office and operating plant environments
    • Comfortable dealing directly with both Clients and Vendors at all levels of the business
    • Expertise using MS office suite and some knowledge of AutoCAD
    • Knowledge of ATEX and equipment for electrically hazardous areas
    • Knowledge or experience of Functional Safety, preferably holding a suitable FS qualification
