This is a part time, open ended appointment (0.8 FTE).

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a highly motivated and skilled Careers Advisor to join our team.

The Careers team at Birkbeck supports our unique student and graduate demographic at all career stages from early careers to career changers to more established careers.


You will have demonstrable experience supporting a wide range of individuals from various backgrounds and will be working with a diverse student body providing them with personalised careers advice and guidance to support them achieve their career goals.


You will have an understanding of career development principles and practices including knowledge of industry trends, the graduate job market, recruitment trends and effective job search strategies.


You will have proven experience of early stage careers, job transitions, career change as well as an understanding of the social, economic and cultural factors that can impact career trajectories.


This role is varied and will give you the opportunity to develop and stretch your skills and experience so you will be committed to ongoing learning and professional development.


This includes staying up to date with industry trends and best practice and contributing to the development of the service and shaping the movement of the University.


You will be managing and coordinating a well-established Career Coaching Programme and have the opportunity to be involved in many other aspects of the careers support we offer both internally and externally such as skills workshops, career talks.


You will be a proven communicator, listener, team player and have demonstrable time management, organisational and administrative skills, along with a pro-active approach to creative problem solving, and the ability to work independently.


Remuneration:

Grade 5 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £32,096 rising to £36,374 per annum.


The salary quoted will be pro-rata for this part time post and is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
