The Freedom to Speak Up role is an independent and influential role helping to protect patient safety and quality of care, improve the working experience of colleagues and promoting learning and improvement and the FTSU service at Gloucestershire Hospitals.
The post holder will work with colleagues across all roles and levels across all sites of Gloucestershire Hospitals and gain visibility to the whole organisation and how it operates.

The post holder will operate independently, impartially and objectively on all matters relating to concerns raised in the workplace, taking a visible role in promoting the processes through which these concerns can be raised.
They will work in partnership with the Lead FTSU Guardian and groups within the organisation including the Board, Chief Executive, Non-executive Directors and the Executive team.
A large part of the duties and responsibilities will include listening and supporting staff who wish to speak up through the FTSU route.
- Ensuring colleagues are thanked for speaking up
- Listen and support staff accessing staff speaking up
- Triage the matters spoken up about
- Support feedback to the staff member and facilitate effective follow up
- Escalate any outstanding matters
- A culture of speaking up/ listening up/ following is instilled throughout the organisation
- Speaking up / listening up/ following up processes are effective and continuously improved
- All colleagues have the capacity to speak up effectively and managers have the capacity to listen well, respond appropriately and support those who are speaking up
- The Trust board is fully sited on, and engaged in all FTSU matters and issues
- Contribute to national FTSU network and comply with NGO guidance, ensuring that recommendations from reviews are analysed and actions implemented appropriately
- Work with the senior leadership team as a specialist for Freedom to Speak Up providing expert advice and direction to staff and senior managers/leaders on matters relating to speaking up/listening up.

- Key internal stakeholders including but not limited to; Lead FTSU Guardian, Non Executive Director for FTSU, Chief Executive Officer, Staffside colleagues, Clinical Governance, Divisional leadership Teams, Chief Nurse, and Medical Director, Senior nursing, EDI Lead, Health and Well being Lead, Health ad Safety Leads, Staff Engagement and Communications, Organisational Development teams.
External:
