Tax Manager

Worcester based with a balance of home and office working

£59,442 - £62,571 per year

35 hours per week


The position of Tax Manager sits within our Corporate Finance and Group Treasury function which is responsible for raising new funding for the Group from the banks and capital markets and negotiating appropriate terms and conditions to be recommended the Group Board.


Reporting into the Head of Taxation you will assist with the management of the day-to-day Group VAT and CT affairs which will include special projects and strategic oversight of the Group's tax strategy working with business operations as a business partner.


This role requires an individual who has proven experience in either a tax advisory or technical accounting role within a commercially focused environment.

You will be able to communicate technical tax advice to both internal and external stakeholders and you will possess an excellent understanding of business needs and have an outcome-focused approach.


The role of Tax Manager will include:
Offering sound tax planning advice for development projects, acquisitions, restructuring and disposals across the Group for all taxes
Providing periodic/annual VAT compliance support and assisting in the preparation and submission of VAT returns including performing Partial Exemption calculations
Review and preparation of Corporation Tax and Charity returns and associated analysis and compliance
Preparation and review of PAYE Settlement Agreements (PSA) for the Group
Preparation of Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) documentation
Review and support Stamp Duty Land Tax and Land and Building Transaction Tax compliance
Providing support to the wider finance team as required in relation to tax related matters
Support in reviewing opportunities within the Group for reducing charges for all forms of tax to ensure efficiencies are achieved and maintained and are in line with tax governance and compliance
Providing high quality management information and updates on programme delivery to the senior management team to support strategic decision making
Ad hoc project and planning to support the Group across all taxes including PESM, Making Tax Digital, Domestic Reverse Charge and other relevant legislative updates


Skills and experiences:
You will be a Qualified chartered tax accountant (CTA) or chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or CA) with post qualification experience in a similar tax advisory role gained within a large complex organisation, practice environment or within a technical / financial accounting role where tax related duties are part of your role
Excellent UK tax technical knowledge along with robust experience of accounting regulation, legislation, and current practices
Proven experience of analysing and diagnosing problems and implementing effective solutions
Ability to business partner at all levels including non-finance stakeholders, annotating complex tax matters into a clear and concise manner
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Proven experience in the successful delivery of projects
