About The Role:


Main duties of the Course Leader:

  • Take overall responsibility for all aspects of the summer school
  • Be responsible for the welfare and wellbeing of students and staff at all times
  • Work closely and on an ongoing daily basis to support and lead the other SBC managers.
  • Have a close working relationship with the SBC Roaming Managers and the SBC Head Office, communicating regularly so they are kept informed of all goings on at the school
  • Ensure the students are supervised at all times and the daily schedule runs efficiently
  • Maintain the good reputation of Summer Boarding Courses Ltd and the host venue
  • Communicate with students and parents both over the phone and facetoface in a friendly and professional manner, handling any enquiries and requests efficiently
  • Be an approachable and positive presence, engaging with students and staff in all areas.

About You:

All members of staff employed by SBC will be expected to bring certain key qualities to the operation. There must be a professional interest in working with young people and particularly international children.

Safety and welfare of the students is of paramount importance at SBC and a practical enforcing of this belief should be a quality exhibited by all staff.

  • Flexible within the summer school environment
  • Although Course Leaders are not required to teach the English language lessons, we do expect them to be able to communicate effectively with our students, using an appropriate level of language to suit the group. _Course Leaders_ must demonstrate patience, empathy and an emotional awareness towards students both individually and in within a group setting. We expect _Course Leaders_ to take control of students and to manage discipline and behavioural issues in a firm, positive and constructive manner._

Experience Required

Essential

  • Experience of, and genuine enjoyment of working with young people
  • Experience of managing a staff team
  • Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, flexibility
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Previous residential summer school experience
  • Experience of managing welfare and behavioural issues effectively

Desirable

  • Experience of residential international summer schools
  • Experience of the UK boarding environment
  • Experience of working within the education sector

_Remuneration_:
Paid weekly, one week in arrears.

The rate for Course Leader is £ plus holiday pay £134.63)
Food and accommodation (worth £60.90 per week) are included for all residential SBC staff.

This results in a weekly total of £1250.
