    Description

    We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic full-time teacher of Mathematics to a large, vibrant and inspirational Mathematics department from September 2024 or January 2025.

    This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of twenty Mathematics teachers in the senior school, and to shape the learning of Mathematics as an academic discipline within our warm and dynamic community.

    The successful candidate will teach gifted and dedicated pupils across a range of year groups from Year 7 up to the Sixth Form, where we offer both A level Mathematics and Further Mathematics and IBDP higher level (Analysis & Approaches) and standard level (Analysis & Approaches, Applications & Interpretations) courses.

    Reflecting the school's strong commitment to teacher training and development, we are eager to receive applications from recent graduates in Maths and related disciplines with no prior teaching experience or who have been undertaking a PGCE or other teacher training route this year, as well as from experienced teachers, and individuals considering a change in career. Full teacher training is available; the school runs its own bespoke teacher training programme culminating in QTS.

    Person Specification

    The post will suit someone who has:

  • Excellent subject knowledge and a genuine interest in Mathematics as an academic discipline
  • An eagerness to inspire and support all pupils to flourish and reach their academic potential
  • A desire to enrich the intellectual experience of pupils beyond the exam specifications by supporting pupil involvement in challenges, competitions, and societies relating to Mathematics
  • Strong pastoral instincts and a commitment to excellent pastoral care for all pupils
  • A desire to contribute to the school's thriving co-curricular programme
  • Excellent communication skills
  • An ability to work well with others
  • A personal commitment to ongoing professional development The following would be advantageous:
  • Prior experience of teaching Mathematics in a secondary school environment (NB: for those with prior sixth form teaching experience, we would not expect applicants to have previous experience of teaching both A level and the IB) King's is an extremely sought-after school with outstanding academic results and a vibrant co-curriculum.     As part of the interview process, all candidates will be required to complete a short written exercise and teach an observed lesson. Preparation work in advance of the lesson will be required, and details will be provided prior to interview.
