The full time starting salary is normally in the range £21,784 to £22,165.

From 1 November 2023 the salary range will increase to £24,368 to £25,876

Band 300

Part Time/ Fixed Term contract up to December 2023

Job Summary


We are currently recruiting two students (undergraduate or postgraduate) from the school of biosciences as School Social Media Intern to assist in marketing for the School of Biosciences.

There may also be an opportunity to extend this following a budget and performance review. The over-arching aim is to grow the School's sense of community and increase engagement from internal and external stakeholders.


If you want to gain digital marketing and content creation experience, whilst still focusing on your scientific based study, then this is the role for you.


Main Duties


The post holder will provide support for the School's Instagram, Twitter, (possibly Facebook and TikTok) channels and updating the school intranet.


The post holder will do this by helping academic staff to create and collect digital content to promote education and research activities in the School.


Creating engaging content for the platform audiences including staff, visitors, students, alumni and school leavers, and will showcase the vibrancy of the School's education and research program's to the outside world.


As the social media & engagement Intern as well as increasing the school's social media presence and to raise its profile the post holder should also be comfortable and confident to be the face of the school online, Such as creating videos where you will be a main feature.


The post holder is expected to have strong communication skills, written and verbal for regular outreach aims to be achieved.


It is a requirement of the post holder to possess good camera skills (front facing and behind the scenes), creative digital skills, social media and scientific knowledge.


Organisation and keeping to deadlines are imperative, whilst ensuring that University GDPR and Health & Safety policies are adhered to and always enforced.
