We are looking to recruit a number of temporary Allotment Maintenance Assistants to a newly created, small team of staff who will be responsible for a range of maintenance tasks across the Council's allotment sites.


In creating the new team, the Council is aiming to ensure it is caring for its sites and providing a good service to its tenants by getting the maximum value from the allotment maintenance budget.


You will work under the direction of a Chargehand but may often be required to work alone and will be expected to complete a range of routine and ad hoc repairs and maintenance tasks on allotment sites across the County.


As part of this, you may also support other services and external contractors who have been engaged to complete more specialist work on the sites.


Working hours will be 37 per week starting and finishing at a depot between 7am and 7.30am but flexible working hours is in operation.


You will be responsive to allotment tenants, allotment associations, Elected Members, Area Action Partnerships and community needs and aspirations in particular those that could make improvements to the quality of the Council's allotments.


Required qualifications and knowledge:

  • Clean driving licence covering at least category B.
  • Competent in the use of machinery / tools relevant to the role.
  • Basic allround knowledge of both hard and soft landscaping.
  • Basic general knowledge of health and safety issues relevant to the role.


Working with Blu tech you will receive weekly pay, will accrue paid annual leave hours and be given a named consultant as your main point of contact.


Salary:
£10.79-£11.18 per hour


Experience:

- relevant groundswork: 1 year (required)


Licence/Certification:

  • CSCS (preferred)
  • Driving Licence (required)
