Position:BSL Teaching Assistant

Location: near Clapham, South West London

Main Responsibility:Supporting children and young people with Hearing Impairment / Deafness and Complex Mental Health Needs (SEMH) in classroom settings

Salary:
£100 - £110 PAYE Per Day (£500 - £550 Per Week)

Contract Type: Full-Time Long-Term to Permanent Contract

The school specialises in supporting children and young people who are deaf or have hearing impairments (HI) coupled with complex mental health needs.

This unique school offers tailored therapeutic education, combining academics with specialised mental health support for issues like anxiety, PTSD, trauma, depression, self-harming, and suicidal tendencies.

The BSL Teaching Assistant Role:


As a vital member of their teaching and support team, you'll be at the forefront of guiding and nurturing young minds.

Your role will involve providing invaluable educational support to students dealing with a spectrum of complex mental health needs, including anxiety, PTSD, trauma, eating disorder, personality disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, self-harming behaviors, and suicidal attempts.

Your ability to speak British Sign Language is essential.


Ideal BSL Teaching Assistant:


  • Minimum BSL Level 2 qualification
  • Must have good knowledge and experience supporting children with complex mental health needs
  • A compassionate and empathetic nature to foster trust and build meaningful connections
