Technical Specialist

We are recruiting a Technical Specialist to join our team in Heywood.


The role of the Technical Specialist is to provide technical support for the Neogen Culture Media (NCM) product range and contribute to the overall objectives of the Technical Services team providing efficient solutions to assist the end-user in the successful use of Neogen products and thereby contribute to increased product sales.


Neogen Culture Media (NCM) product range offers over 300 products in a range of formats incorporating high quality culture media and associated microbiology testing solutions.


Key tasks:

  • Provide prompt and comprehensive technical support for the NCM product range to sales teams, product management, distributors and customers.
  • Provide labbased troubleshooting for technical queries as and when required as guided by senior team members.
  • Liaise with other departments in relation to technical support for Neogen Culture Media products.
  • Ensure the completion of analysis in a timely manner and accurate transfer of information from the laboratory to relevant departments.
  • Ensure all technical queries and work requests follow existing process flows.
  • Maintain and update the Helpdesk system in line with the existing Technical Support guidelines and processes.
  • Understand and adhere to SOPs; reviewing and updating existing SOPs.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks, records and prepare reports to the required standard.
  • Competent use of various laboratory equipment and be able to recognise possible issues; calibration and daytoday maintenance of laboratory analytical equipment.

Skill and experience required:

  • BSc. (Hons) in Microbiology, or related discipline.
  • 3 year's relevant laboratory experience essential.
  • Practical skills, knowledge and experience of microbiology or related discipline.
  • Familiarity with equipment used in microbiology/biochemical/analytical laboratories.
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent record keeping abilities.
  • Selfmotivating.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and tasks.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK.
