    About Tracks and Layers

    Tracks and Layers is a creative studio based in MediaCityUK, Salford. We've been having fun making things move since 2014 and specialise in crafting captivating motion graphics and animation for production companies and broadcasters. Our goal is to delight and surprise audiences with our visually stunning creations. Our clients include the likes of the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, Channel 5, Love Productions, Manchester United, UKTV and many more.

    Summary

    The Studio Manager runs the daily work of our studio. They make sure projects are done on time and within budget, manage the team, talk with clients, handle invoicing, and keep quality high. They also help the team grow and learn. The job needs 3+ years of experience in managing creative teams and good computer skills. Extra skills like a knowledge of post-production and using online project management tools are a plus. The job offers private health insurance (after probation), bonuses, and chances for personal growth.

    Salary Range: £30,000 - £35,000 - Depending on experience

    Experience Level: 3+ years of project/studio management experience, with examples of managing creative projects and teams

    Role Definition

    The Studio Manager is a key player responsible for the effective management of day-to-day operations, ensuring the seamless functioning of our motion design studio.

    Expected Responsibilities

    Project Management:

    • Coordinate and manage project workflows to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
    • Allocate resources efficiently among the motion design team, balancing workloads effectively.
    • Oversee project timelines, milestones, and client deliverables.
    • Manage capacity of the creative team

    Team Coordination:

    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment.
    • Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members.
    • Work closely with creative and production teams for seamless integration of design and production processes.

    Client Communication:

    • Act as a liaison between clients and the motion design team.
    • Communicate project updates, timelines, and address client feedback for overall satisfaction.

    Resource Management:

    • Manage studio resources, including equipment and software licenses.
    • Identify and address resource needs to enhance team efficiency.

    Financial Oversight:

    • Manage project budgets and prepare/send invoice clients at key milestones
    • Monitor expenses, track project costs, and contribute to budget planning.

    Quality Assurance:

    • Ensure motion design team meets quality standards and client expectations.
    • Implement and maintain quality control processes.

    Professional Development:

    • Identify training opportunities for team members.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

    Studio Operations:

    • Oversee day-to-day studio operations, including equipment maintenance and workspace management.
    • Implement and improve studio policies and procedures for enhanced efficiency.

    Business Development:

    • Collaborate with senior management on business development strategies.
    • Participate in client pitches, proposals, and presentations as needed.

    Specific Responsibilities Include:

    • Managing day-to-day studio operations, utilising project management and collaboration tools.
    • Handling project budgets, financial tracking, and controlling studio time and team efficiently.
    • Communicating client and project needs clearly to ensure work aligns with the agreed brief.
    • Creating and implementing deadlines, project goals, and workflows for on-time delivery.
    • Managing procurement of supplies and organising deliveries.
    • Defining, implementing, and documenting operational processes.
    • Managing the multi-disciplinary studio team, setting daily priorities.
    • Onboarding new clients and building/maintaining relationships with clients, freelancers, and collaborators.
    • Assisting with organising team social activities, industry outreach/events, and marketing activities.

    Skills and Experience Required

    • 3+ years of project/studio management experience, with examples of managing creative projects and teams.
    • Experience in defining, implementing, and documenting operational processes.
    • Knowledge and experience using cloud-based project management tools such as ClickUp, Asana, , Notion
    • Strong IT and computer literacy skills.

    Other Desirable Attributes

    • Knowledge of broadcast post-production processes, focusing on motion graphics and animation
    • Experience with collaboration tools like GSuite, Dropbox,
    • Experience managing social media channels and content scheduling.

    General Responsibilities as Part of the Tracks and Layers Team

    • Manage and promptly respond to client requests and feedback via email and review platforms.
    • Maintain a tidy workspace and contribute to a clean studio environment.
    • Utilise downtime for developing technical skills, exploring new business opportunities, and manage the creation of website or social media content.
