    We are looking for a dynamic individual to take on the role of General Manager at one of the leading nursing and residential care homes in Kent. This post holder will work closely with the senior leadership team and the registered manager in shaping and transforming the service, ensuring its efficiency, profitability, and the delivery of the highest standard of care to all residents.

    You will ensure everyone in your team is motivated to deliver the quality of care and support our residents deserve, measured through key performance indicators such as sales leadership, financial management, customer and team engagement, recruitment and through regulatory CQC compliance. The ideal candidate will possess the requisite attitude, skills, and knowledge, aligning with our commitment to provide outstanding quality of care.

    In the capacity of General Manager, you will assume the responsibility of working alongside the registered manager and Halden Heights staff, reporting to the Regional Operations Director, responsible for the overall management of the home.

    Main duties

    • The General Manager is a senior leadership role and is responsible for the management of service delivery across Halden Heights care home, to include nursing and residential residents and the interface with partners both internally and externally.
    • You will act as the home's most senior role ensuring all department managers and care staff deliver joined up, person centered care which is well coordinated and safe.
    • Provide leadership, management, supervision, and support for the registered manager and to the managers of each team.
    • Ensure all resources are used effectively and efficiently to deliver services within budget and other performance guidelines.
    • Support the development and implementation of the operational business plan for care services, support emergency planning and business continuity.
    • Work with the registered manager to review all pre-admission assessments as well as overseeing all admissions linking up care in all aspects of the service from all clinical through to social care needs.
    • Lead service quality and safety improvements, ensuring all activity undertaken within the services are subject to robust governance arrangements, follow best practice, meet agreed objectives and standards.
    • Facilitate the professional development of all operational staff and joined up working within the home.
    • Develop the service pathway for nursing care and wellbeing to ensure the best client centered care is offered through all stages of a client's journey in Halden Heights.

    Quality Assurance

    • Chair manager's meetings to ensure KPIs are upheld, taking the lead for chasing agreed actions plans and ensure effective joint working.
    • Lead professional external meetings to ensure Halden Heights is well represented and teams within Halden Heights are well supported.
    • Ensure effective collaboration across all colleagues and key stakeholders to deliver efficient and effective support to all residents.

    Service Development

    • Develop the data collection to ensure the regional director is kept informed of key data on occupancy, safety, and clinical excellence.
    • Identify, recommend, and implement policies, processes and systems designed to improve and enhance effectiveness, efficiency, and professionalism.
    • Support the development of challenging and ambitious service strategies, anticipating the future need of Halden Heights and creating business plans to deliver effective change.
    • Work with the registered manager to regularly monitor, review and report on the performance of the home against key performance indicators, quality assurance targets and audit results.

    Staff Development

    • Review induction pathways and the development of Halden Heights to ensure professional inductions take place for both nursing, care, and support staff to minimise staff turnover.
    • Facilitate the professional development of all operational staff. Work in collaboration with colleagues in HR to ensure professional standards are upheld and training programmes are completed in full and kept up to date.
    • Support the creation and maintenance of a culture of high performance and service excellence.

    Line Management

    • Responsible for the management of the registered manager and operational team managers.
    • Ensure registered manager and team managers are supported to lead, motivate, and develop staff.
    • Promote a positive, empowering, and accountable culture within operations.

    Financial targets

    • Contribute to the preparation, management, and monitoring of Halden Heights budgets.
    • Manage assigned budgets ensuring that operations remain within agreed limits and the financial position of the home is always sustainable.
    • Manage systems facilitating cost-effective purchase of goods and services, identifying, and implementing cost improvements in accordance with policies.

    Processes and Administartion

    • Ensure regular and effective interaction and communication with clients, professional colleagues, and the Eleanor team, attending reviews, inspections and other professional and senior management meetings as required.
    • You will undertake a full range of quality audit functions to ensure the care home services are always prepared and inspection ready. Ensure strict adherence to Care Quality Commission (CQC) guidelines in all operational aspects.
    • Support the development and use of an effective IT strategy, centrally built around our care planning and staff management system Care Vision, ensuring the home collects, processes, and analyses information to support effective and safe care planning and risk management.
    • Co-ordinate the monitoring and follow-up of recommendations from audits and report on progress to the regional operations director.
    • Actively explore and pursue new business opportunities to contribute to the commercial growth of the facility. Ensure confidentiality and data security is always maintained following guidelines and the Data Protection Act.

    Requirements

    • Proven management experience at a similar level ideally in a regulated care home environment.
    • Established leadership skills to manage large teams.
    • Strong commercial awareness, care industry preferred.
    • Knowledge of CQC and local authority requirements.
    • Proven experience as a Registered Manager (Desirable).
    • Highly developed analytical and report writing skills.
    • Demonstrate exceptional communication skills, displaying a collaborative and empathetic approach, coupled with outstanding interpersonal abilities.

    Salary - £45k - £55k
