Would you like to work for a leading pharmaceutical organisation in the Cambridge area?


My client is an established and successful analytical organisation, providing contract analytical services and chemistry consultancy to a range of Pharmaceutical clients.

Due to continued expansion, they are looking to hire an experienced Senior Scientist

  • Biopharmaceutical Characterisation to work within their stateoftheart laboratory focused on the biochemical, structural, and biophysical characterisation of Biopharmaceutical molecules under development.


Working as a more senior member of the team the Senior Scientist - Biopharmaceutical Characterisation will provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the team, passing on your knowledge and expertise.

The laboratory is well equipped, runningtechniques such as DLS (Dynamic Light Scattering), HPLC (Size Exclusion, Reversed Phase, Ion Exchange, Hydrophilic interaction), Protein Chemistry (CE, CD, SDS Page), ELISAs and Amino Acid Analysis (AAA).

The laboratories undertakes characterisation of proteinsanti-bodies, oligonucleotides and mRNA.


The Senior Scientist - Biopharmaceutical Characterisation will have contact with Pharmaceutical clients directly, you will scope out the requirements, determine timeframes, generate data, interpret the data to provide insights, and generate quality & robustanalytical reports.

This will involve managing analytical projects, which may include collaboration with different teams within the business.

To be considered for the Senior Scientist - Biopharmaceutical Characterisation role you will need the following skills and experience;

  • BSc / MSc/ PhD in Biochemistry/Chemistry (or related scientific discipline)
  • Indepth knowledge of and experience of Biological and Biophysical Characterisation of Biopharmaceutical molecules.
  • Expertise with techniques such as cIEF, CE-SDS, Oligonucleotides analysis, mRNA analysis techniques, ELISA/Plate based Residual impurity analysis and HPLC (SEC, RP, HIC, IEX, HILIC)
  • Experience of working in a GxP regulatory laboratory with strong understanding of GMP/GLP/GCP principles.
  • Strong method development and validation experience
  • You should also be able to demonstrate ability in training, supervising and coordinating the work of less experienced scientists.
  • Excellent communication, teamworking and organisation skills.
  • Good IT literacy skills
