Would you like to work with an award-winning boatbuilding company based in waterside offices near Falmouth, Cornwall - the perfect destination for sailors, surfers and beach lovers? Cockwells is a growing company; globally respected in the marine industry and at the forefront of designing and building the highest quality boats, motor launches and tenders.

The Company cleverly integrates traditional boatbuilding skills with innovative engineering and modern techniques to build vessels of the highest quality.

We are looking for full-time Boat Builders to join our growing team working 07.00am-17.30pm Monday-Thursday (40 hours per week). There are positions available for all levels of experience, starting
as soon as possible.

Job description
The role of Boat Builder will include the following:

  • Scribing and fitting Joinery parts
  • Fitting teak decks
  • Fitting external Stainlesssteel hardware
  • Installation of windows, doors and furnishings
  • Using hand and machine tools
  • Fitting of GRP parts
  • And all other aspects of Boat Assembly

Essential Skills

  • Able to show competence and experience in a variety of boat building skills
  • Take pride in, and take responsibility for the work that you do
  • Be happy working under supervision, but competent working alone where required
  • Be confident using fixed machinery
  • To be accurate
  • Good attention to detail and well organised
  • Good practical hand skills
  • Practical skills we find are often more important than qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety
  • Hard working and reliable

Location
The place of work is normally Southwest Shipyard, Ponsharden, Falmouth TR11 2SE or Mylor Creek Boat Yard, Mylor Bridge, TR11 5NS


Salary
A competitive and negotiable hourly rate of £10.50 to £16, dependent on experience.
