    Description
    Main duties and responsibilities

Based in our state-of-the-art Science Building, you will manage our Simulated Community Pharmacy and a 4-bed Clinical Simulation Suite.

You will play a vital role in our Master of Pharmacy, Physician's Associate, and Dietetics programmes. Our Scenario-based approach to teaching uses mannequins with proprietary software for vital signs monitoring and control.

This is central to the activities of the facility, for our undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes, and external training for clinicians and other medical personnel.

The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring that the above areas run smoothly and will work closely with academic staff to ensure that specific requirements for teaching and examinations are met and that all equipment is fully operational.

Other duties will include preparing for external visits to the area, maintaining an equipment inventory, and participation as a surrogate patient for some Practical activities.

Liaison with, and assisting in, our second Clinical Simulation Suite on campus will also be required from time-to-time.

We are seeking an ambitious and enthusiastic individual with a diverse skill set, but who above all else, is willing to take on responsibility for an important and high-profile facility in our School.

Skills and experience required The successful candidate will be dedicated and flexible, ideally have demonstrable experience of medical simulation in a higher-education environment.

It is essential that the post holder has substantial experience working in a technical teaching environment and has good familiarity with the skills required of Community and Hospital Pharmacists.

This is a role that involves a lot of contact with people, both professional and academic staff, as well as students.

The ideal candidate will therefore need to be personable, adaptable, and confident, especially when external guests are visiting the Department which is a frequent occurrence.

There will also be periods of time working alone, so the successful candidate will need to be able to work using initiative and plan their time effectively.

The ability to work to deadlines and acquire new skills and learn new techniques is also required.

Qualifications required A minimum of a first degree/HND/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent demonstrable experience in a relevant subject area such as Pharmacy, Medicine, or a closely-related science.

Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria. Please attach a personal statement showing how your skills and experience match the person specification.
