Senior Controls Engineer

• Worcestershire, UK £ £55.000We are working with an established forward-thinking technology company specialising in the fields of automated electrical, electronic, pneumatic and mechanical production & test systems, in Automotive, Rail and Food & Beverage, amongst others based in Worcestershire, UK. They are recruiting for a Senior Controls Engineer to join their team. In return for a salary in the region £ £55.000 along with excellent employment benefits. They need an enthusiastic, self-motivated and capable Controls Engineer with significant experience in the design and commissioning of turnkey automated systems.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Extracting & interpreting customer requirements
• Contributing to system-level design specifications
• Contributing to external & internal design reviews
• Design, program and build of electrical control systems
• All aspects of PLC software development
• Leading system integration, test and validation
• Documentation for system operation & maintenance Requirements:
• At least 5 to 10 years significant experience in the design of controls for bespoke, automated systems.
• Willingness to integrate with house software style.
• Expert knowledge of component parts including motors, drives, encoders etc from major suppliers.
• Working familiarity with at least one major PLC, preferably Siemens and TIA portal.
• Experience of using networking solutions such as Profinet.
• Working familiarity with E-PLAN.
• Ability to interpret customer specifications & evaluate customer products & designs.
• Ability to produce robust, innovative and re-usable solutions.
• Familiarity with Machinery safety directive, PUWER, CE/UKCA, SISTEMA and relevant safety legislation associated with special purpose machinery.
• Ability to take a leading role as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team.
• A focus on meeting project deadlines & budgets.
• An ability to contribute to multiple concurrent jobs.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office.
