Three Head of Schools positions have been created within the Faculty of Education, Theology and the Arts each being responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the relevant School, driven by a commitment to teaching and learning, the student experience, partnerships, research, and knowledge exchange.


In line with St Mary's vision and values, each Head of School will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for the respective School, driven by a commitment to teaching and learning, the student experience, partnerships, research, and knowledge exchange.

Reporting to the Dean of Faculty, the Head of School will manage the academic staff and resources in the relevant School, to deliver high-quality services to students.


As a member of the Faculty's Leadership Team, each Head of School will be responsible for local implementation of Faculty and University-wide initiatives, and for ensuring the relevant School is compliant with all relevant legal, procedural, and policy frameworks.

St Mary's University is committed to offering a vocationally relevant portfolio of programmes to the highest academic standards.

The Faculty of Education, Theology and the Arts consists of three Schools; the School of Education, the School of Theology and the School of Liberal and Creative Arts with established expertise and resources in these fields.


The School of Education welcomes everyone with a passion for education and offers a wide range of programmes including primary and secondary teacher training routes.

Additionally, the Institute offers professional development opportunities for teachers and are in partnership with 500+ schools and other organisations. Particular interests include Catholic education, teachers wellbeing, social justice and pedagogy.
