About the Role
The role of
Programme Support Officer will play an important part in the Council's ongoing transformation.

You'll be working on exciting transformation projects in our Communities portfolio - these are significant programmes of work thatwill deliver real improvements to the lives of people who live, work, and study in Surrey.


In this role you will be involved in supporting all aspects of project delivery from business case development through ongoing project management to evaluation of impact.

You will provide support to small teams of Programme and Project Managers to produceand maintain project documentation and to develop and monitor progress against project plans, including monitoring risks, issues, and dependencies.


You will lead on support to project governance, including drafting and maintaining terms of reference, roles and responsibilities and stakeholder mapping documentation, servicing meetings (producing agendas, compiling papers and taking minutes), and supportingthe organisation of meetings and events (virtual and face-to-face).

You will have an opportunity to gain experience of a wide range of tasks and projects including taking a more active role in aspects of project management, alongside the Project and ProgrammeManagers, to support your development.


About You

In order to be considered for shortlisting, we would love to hear about your;

  • Experience supporting complex projects or programmes of work, with experience managing conflicting priorities and multiple tasks
  • Ability to think clearly and logically, to maintain focus and close attention to detail, this will enable you to identify opportunities for process improvement and take a lead on putting these into practice.
  • Experience of working in local government or demonstrable understanding of the sector
