Full Time, Permanent

£27,500 - £33,000 per annum plus benefits
We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Operator to join our team on the prestigious Skynet contract. This role will assist with maintenance and network engineering tasks within a Satellite Communications environment. The role is a shift position providing 24/7 technical support to the Network Operations team. This will include working a formally rostered pattern which includes weekends and Public Holidays in addition to Night Shifts.


We are looking to attract applicants who are adaptable, highly self-motivated with a desire to learn new skills and who relish a challenge.

This is a permanent position within Serco that would ideally suit applicants from a technical background or keen interest in Space activities.


Main responsibilities of this role include:

  • Assist with scheduled Operational and Network Support tasks.
  • Undertake fault monitoring and rectification activities, maintaining records and reports of work completed.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance tasks on the equipment within the ground station.
  • Assist with unscheduled tasks as detailed by the Shift Supervisor or Network Management Team.
  • Administration and scheduled daily tasks.

What you'll need to do the role:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills ideally including GCSE or Level 3 Maths and English.
  • Be able to work as part of a closeknit team.
  • Holding a UK Government SC clearance is a mandatory requirement for the position. Successful applicants will be expected to achieve this clearance as a condition of appointment into the role.
