Description

Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Gateshead.

We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness, Uniformed Public Services and Veterinary Nursing.

We define the values and qualities that we require from our people using the Askham Bryan College DNA.

Hardwired in to what we do, our DNA strands ensure that all colleagues are committed to delivering with purpose, taking ownership, building trust and always learning.

Our staff benefits include 35 days annual leave plus bank holidays, Local Government Pension Scheme/Teachers Pension Scheme, Staff Discounts, Colleague engagement days, Cycle to Work Scheme, ABC Awards (Staff Recognition Scheme), beautiful campuses and free on-site parking (York, Middlesbrough, Gateshead).

We are looking to recruit a Progress Tutor to work within the curriculum and with a cohort of students to deliver our tutorial framework group sessions (Progression and Development sessions) on topics such as Employability, Prevent and British Values, mental health and wellbeing among many others.

The tutors will also be responsible for supporting the students pastorally and monitoring their progress and attendance in one to one tutorial sessions.

Working closely with curriculum, Student Services Team, Quality Team and Work Placement Teams, you will be responsible for ensuring each student has the life skills and knowledge they need to be employable, work ready and equipped with the skills to keep themselves safe when they leave our College.

To be successful in this role, you should be enthusiastic and passionate about students achieving their potential and in working supportively to remove any barriers they may face along the way.

You will be a team player but be able to adapt to working independently when necessary.

We welcome applicants who can bring new ideas and help to mould the role of the Progress Tutor into a successful and valuable part of the Student Services Team, as well as being fully embedded into the curriculum teams.

Askham Bryan College works hard to maintain and promote equality and diversity and ensure inclusion for all students who choose to attend here.

The Progress Tutor will have these principles at the heart of everything they do and be motivated to further improve the services we offer to take these principles forward by delivering high quality content.
