    We are inviting applications from dynamic individuals with skills and expertise in livestock management, production and agricultural practices to join our University Centre team as a Higher Education Course Manager in Agriculture (Livestock).     Where is this post based?

    Askham Bryan College and University Centre is an ambitious, specialist land-based college based across the North of England with its main campus based on the outskirts of historic York. This post is based at our main York campus.

    As one of the largest, specialist land-based colleges in the UK, our strategy for the next decade emphasises our commitment to a high quality technical and professional land-based curriculum, provision of outstanding resources that deliver an exceptional and inclusive student experience and our contribution to the circular economy and sustainable developments.

    The College is part of the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology is funded by Department for Education and to date has provided £1.7 million to develop specialist IoT classrooms and a precision livestock facility comprising a calf rearing facility and beef grower unit, and a teaching and learning space. The state-of-the-art equipment is being used by students for teaching and research. The facility takes a fully digitised approach to sustainable high welfare farming. Students complete research and make animal husbandry and welfare decisions based on real time data. This includes recording each animal's growth and health including its food and water intake via electronic wearable devices.

    Your Role:

    As a course manager and lecturer you will:

    • Inspire and support students to meet their academic and professional potential.
    • Manage designated courses, ensuring compliance with program requirements and student satisfaction.
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality teaching and assessment to students enrolled on higher education programmes.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to develop resources and enhance curriculum delivery.

    About you:

    • Have applied experience within livestock management settings and a passion for agriculture.
    • Hold a level 7 qualification in an Agriculture/Large Animal-related subject (or at least be qualified to Level 6 in a relevant subject area)
    • Desire and ability to engage students in innovative education and training experiences
    • Excellent communication and proficient IT skills
    • Willingness to work flexibly to meet the evolving needs of the business

    Askham Bryan College has a state-of-the-art Digital Skill Academy in which we focus on digital teaching, digital learning, digital assessment and digital upskilling. Using the tools and approaches set out in the colleges digital learning landscape. Which include the first in Europe, multi-user collaborative virtual reality suite which is at the heart of the building. Enabling students to experience immersive learning experiences in both 'real world' virtual reality and 'animated' virtual reality. These experiences are either created by the tutor or by empowering students to create their own environments for cutting edge assessment practices.
