Description
This post is ideal for junior doctors planning a career in care of the older person or general medicine to gain exposure


Whilst this is a non-training post, post holders will have a clinical educational supervisor and will be able to attend teaching session in the Trust as well as accessing the well-equipped library with IT facilities.

There is also the opportunity to have an electronic portfolio (for a fee)

This post will form part of the acute medical on call rota

Undertake assessment of acute medical patients making decisions on treatment plans.

Ensure timely treatment plans for patients are actioned

Ensure timely referrals to the appropriate speciality where further advice or admission is required.

Co-operation with outside agencies, including Primary Care and community services as required.

Ensure timely and high-quality discharge communication to Primary Care for safe ongoing care.


The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.


From 1 st July we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
