    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and person to join the Infant Feeding Team within Maternity at Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, as the community based lead for complex infant feeding.

    The role will lead the provision of complex feeding support and tongue tie release in the four community hubs within the local borough of Hackney.

    The successful post holder will work as part of a team to ensure a holistic, patient focused service that supports and promotes breastfeeding and safe formula feeding practices in line with UNICEF's Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI), consisting of infant feeding in-service support and community-based infant feeding support.

    They will also beexpected to support the infant feeding Programme Lead with the implementation of UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative and maintain Baby Friendly Standards within the Trust and our community areas, ensuring our community standards are sustained and embedded across maternity services.

    o Develop a community based specialist infant feeding service, including liaising with Family Hubs staff to establish clinics and developing a referral process for the serviceo Perform assessments of specialist infant feeding issueso Perform full tongue tie assessments in line with the latest evidence based practice and with referral for frenulotomy if indicatedo Provide support and feeding plans for families with specialist infant feeding issueso Follow up of infant feeding dyads with specialist issues (including tongue tie) with appropriate referral to other services including the Enhanced Health Visiting Service, GPs or other health professionalso Provide a joined-up service with the hospital-based infant feeding team, the health visiting infant feeding team and the Community Based Infant Feeding Peer Support Serviceo Deliver high quality patient care without direct supervision and seek guidance on actions that are outside agreed defined standardso Support community midwifery staff and peer supporters to provide high quality infant feeding supporto Help the Trust to achieve BFI accreditation including undertaking BFI audits and trainingo Promote breastfeeding as a public health initiative and work within the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes

    Effective IT Skills including K2, Datix, EPR & Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PP)
    Demonstrates ability to adapt to NHS service developments & new nursing theories for use in the clinical area
    Experience of all areas of midwifery care
    Ability to teach, educate and facilitate training

    Full appreciation of safeguarding and mental health requirements
