    Are you passionate about provide high quality rehabilitation for the recovery of Stroke and Neurology patients?

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced band 5 or established band 6 Physiotherapist to join SWBH Stroke and Neurology Team.

    In preparation for our move later this year to our brand new Hospital 'Midland Met', we have secured funding to right-size our acute Stroke therapy team to meet the new RCP guidelines for Stroke, and are looking to extend our already thriving therapy family.

    This is an opportunity to strengthen and diversify the team, as such we are keen to recruit individuals with an interest in specific areas of Neuro Physiotherapy such as early intervention, Gait, Spasticity and long term condition management.

    As a band 6, you will have the opportunity to rotate across the Stroke and Neurology service, working on the acute and rehabilitation wards and with the community stroke service.

    Main duties of the job

    Within this post you will be expected to:

    Provide high quality, safe and evidence based Physiotherapy intervention to in-patients across the Stroke and Neurology service.

    Hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case conferences.

    Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

    Line manage B5 staff and and therapy support workers.

    Supervise and educate undergraduate therapy students and assess their performance as required to ensure their standard of practice and knowledge meets the standards set by the degree level qualification.

    Undertake evidence based audit and research projects to further own and team's clinical practice and make recommendations to the clinical lead of that service regarding changes in practice by the team.

    Contribute to the implementation of specific changes to practice and service protocols.

    Deputise for the Clinical Team Band 7 as required.

    Person Specification

    Experience

    Essential

  • Sufficient postgraduate experience to demonstrate ability to meet the personal specification and fulfil the job description, including experience within the specialist field of Stroke and Neurology.
  • Experience of delegating to and supervising Physiotherapy/ Rehabilitation Assistants.
  • Contribution to the clinical education of less experienced staff or undergraduate Physiotherapy students
  • Experience of working as part of a Physiotherapy team and the wider MDT.

  • Involvement in audit and research
  • Experience using FES and Orthotics
  • BBTA Normal Movement Module
  • Qualifications

    Essential

  • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Valid UK Driving License
  • Portfolio evidence of CPD

  • UK drivers license
  • CSP or similar registration
