    Position

    NHS Ayrshire and Arran were successful in the bid to host the National Secure Adolescent Inpatient services for young people aged between 12 and their 18th birthday who present a level of risk and we are now moving towards the finalisation of the build and the clinical model with the expectation that the service will accepting the first young people into the service in 2024.

    We are excited to announce that we are now inviting forward thinking, motivated Occupational Therapist who has an understanding of Child and Adolescent Mental Health and/or Forensic Mental health with relevant experience.

    The position is offered on a permanent basis. Please note, this post attracts a recruitment and retention premia.

    What you will do:

    You will be based at Foxgrove National Secure Adolescent Inpatient Service within Ayrshire Central Hospital and will join and work alongside the Advanced Occupational Therapy Practitioner/Service Manager and clinical team to assist in completion of the final development of pathways and processes and have the opportunity to build the culture and ethos of the service prior to its opening in 2024.

    Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

    You will hold a degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy with current HCPC registration and evidence of CPD.

    With experience in a range of relevant clinical areas and settings (children and young people and mental health), you will have evidence of competent skills in assessment and treatment.

    Hours:

    37 hours per week

    5/7 days working pattern (no nightshift)

    From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced. Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

    NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer. If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff) until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
