Job overview:


We are looking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and flexible Speech and Language Therapist to join our well-established General Community Adult Speech and Language Therapy Team based in Bury.

Main duties of the job:

The service is delivered in a variety of settings including patient's homes, care homes, day centres and clinic environments. You will work with therapy assistants, Multidisciplinary Teams, Administrative Teams and Students.

Person specification:


Qualifications:


Essential criteria:


  • Degree in Speech & Language Therapy
  • Post basic qualification/specialist competencies in dysphasia (RCSLT Level C)
  • Evidence of successful completion of relevant short courses
  • Clinical Educator training

Desirable criteria:


  • Training/Experience of videofluoroscopy
  • Training / Experience of tracheostomy management
  • Training / Experience of FEES

Professional Registration:


Essential criteria:


  • HCPC Registration

Desirable criteria:


  • MRCSLT

Knowledge, Training & Experience:


Essential criteria:


  • Experience working in the NHS
  • Proven post qualification experience of working with adults with acquired neurological conditions.
  • Experience of assessing and managing complex communication disorders, including AAC.

Desirable criteria:


  • Ability to speak another language relevant to the population of Greater Manchester/ Experience working with interpreters
  • Participation in research
  • Membership of relevant CENs/RCSLT hubs
  • Audit experience
  • Leadership experience

Skills & Abilities:


Essential criteria:


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to present information in a clear and logical manner.
  • Flexible to meet the needs of the service
  • Proven organisational skills including time management, effective delegation and prioritisation and the ability to complete a task.
  • Ability to work and motivate others within a team.
  • Ability to work autonomously within the Trusts policies of data protection, confidentiality, equal opportunities and Health and Safety to meet the differing needs of patients.
