Finance Assistant - Supplier Funding


We have many different types of funding arrangements with suppliers that each provide unique complexities towards reaching our aim of recognising, collecting and accounting for funding as effectively as possible.

This role will support the logging and collection of supplier income and be a key contact for commercial trading function to support them on a day to day basis.

This role will support commercial teams to understand and ensure that they are engaged and abide by the rules and regulations around supplier funding accounting processes and develop best practices in supplier income accounting.


On a day to day basis the job holder is expected to be close to the detail of transactions within Supplier Income, whilst able to communicate key issues succinctly as part of the bigger picture.


This role will support the Finance Analyst to be able to liaise with the Finance Manager and relevant Senior Managers in this area.

In addition, they will employ the skills and knowledge of team members within the wider trading finance team and through utilisation of their time deliver their objectives.


What you need to do

  • Support the commercial trading teams by providing relevant and accurate reporting to support them in understanding the impact that supplier funding agreements have had on their margin.
  • Champion the supplier funding tools by familiarising yourself with the different sources of funding and the different complexities that exist. Gain knowledge of how the tools work to be able to assist teams with questions on an adhoc basis.
  • Support the Commercial teams to ensure funding deals are collected on a timely basis and that the company's cash flow remains as strong as possible, through insightful and accurate analysis.
  • Provide insight into changes being made to the supplier income process and proactively offer opinions and solutions to existing challenges.
  • Bridge the gap between trading teams and trading finance through excellent stakeholder management and regular interactions with the traders, embedding yourself within their teams as a true business partner for all supplier funding matters.
  • Drive changing behaviours in the business through supporting strategic objectives within supplier funding, identifying improvements and changes to the supplier income process, offering opinions and solutions to existing challenges.
  • Support the commercial trading teams by collating and logging funding on a day to day basis ensuring that funding is logged on a timely basis.

The success of the role will be determined by a high quality output, in a timely manner. The job holder will be highly motivated. The job holder will be proactive, able to communicate well and have a keen eye for detail. The ability to identify areas to further improve the efficiency of the team will be key.
