JOB SUMMARY
This role involves clerical work including reception duties, preparation of records for review clinics, telephone duties, appointment systems, typing. Input and extract information from computer based records system.

Behave consistently with the values of Southern Health and Social Care Trust and promote these on a daily basis.


KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • General reception duties, including greeting patients, relatives and members of hospital staff, the public and clergy.
  • Keep up-to-date records of patient location within Emergency Department and Minor Injuries Unit.
  • Register patients who arrive to the Emergency Department on the eEMS database. Maintaining Dashboard.
  • Ensure the smooth running of review clinics.
  • Answer the telephone, record all calls, take and forward messages.
  • Contact appropriate medical staff in regional specialities and in Daisy Hill Hospital for A & E Medical staff to arrange transfer or referrals.
  • Request ambulances if required
  • Arrange appointments for review clinics. Ensuring clinic attendances recorded accordingly.
  • Process disposals on eEMs and ensure follow ups on all referrals forwarded to appropriate service.
  • Open and distribute mail.
  • Maintain computerised patient records as directed.
  • Maintain filing system ensuring that notes are regularly weede and sent for offsite storage.
  • Maintain / order stationary stock for department. Checking of deliver note against requisitions.
  • Scan / Photocopy material as required for service.
  • Record and report faults to the maintenance department.
  • Typing duties.
  • Pull/request records for audit / medico-legal purposes.
  • Comply with Infection Control guidelines and the Trust dress code.
  • It is important that all members of staff are prepared to take on additional duties or relinquish existing duties in order to maintain efficient running of the service.

Essential Criteria:
1. 5 GCSEs at Grade A-C including English Language or equivalent/higher qualification


OR
1 years' experience in a clerical/administrative role.


  • Keyboard skills
