    Technical Specialist / Lead Engineer – Power Electronics DesignBirminghamPowertrain Development RequirementsStrong numeracy and literacyA minimum of ten years experience is essential and preferably some of this will be in automotiveGood logical reasoningDeep experience of Power Electronics Design ideally including Automotive Inverters with experience of "Design for Manufacture"Knowledge of power electronic devices, including silicon based IGBTs and MOSFETs through to emerging SiC / GaN based technologies: gate driver, control architecture and measurement circuits, selection/characterisation of devices for inverterExperience of developing hardware to meet IEC or domain specific variant, e.g.

    ISO 26262)

    Experience of relevant CAD/CAE tools for the design of Power Electronic productsExperience of working with teams of engineers designing and testing power electronicsExperience of RA/SSOW in an HV test environmentEvidence of achieving results through effective work against objectivesGood communication skillsDuties & Responsibilities Lead the design of power electronics hardware for traction drive and power conversion systemsCapturing and analysing requirements from different stakeholdersDesign power electronics systems:

    IGBT/SiC drives, power converter including transistor selection, gate drive design, power inverter design, measurements circuits, microprocessor selection and protection strategiesSupport the development of electrical and electronics architecture for e-drive applications including HV harness and connectors schematicsPerform analysis/simulation of electrical and thermal performanceDesign and build power electronics test and measurement equipment for internal development activityDeveloping validation tests for electrical test bench, HiL and vehicleCan develop concept, proving key technologies and demonstrating the system functionalityProvide expertise for investigations and problem-solving activitiesLead the hardware DFMEA and support functional safety analysisEnsure compliance with relevant EMC/EMI standardsManaging the technical delivery of suppliersBy applying to this role you understand that we may collect your personal data and store and process it on our systems.
