Locum Consultant Dermatologist
Public Only Consultants Contract

Mater Misericordiae University Hospital – 28 hours
Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar – 9 hours

The Locum Consultant Dermatologist will provide dermatology services on a Public Only Consultant
Contract (POCC23) basis with a commitment of 28 hours per week at the Mater Misericordiae University
Hospital and 9 hours per week at the Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar.

The Department of Dermatology in the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital currently
comprises of 5 consultants. The service consists of OPD, Surgical OPD and Dermatology Day Centre in
addition to inpatient care and daily inpatient consults. The department is also involved in teaching and
research with regular undergraduate, postgraduate and nurse education sessions.
The post holder will be expected to provide specialist outpatient dermatology, weekly surgical lists and
services including assessment of in-patients and patients in the Acute Medical Unit via the consultation
service. In line with the recommendations of the NCCP, all posts will participate in the planning and
delivery of rapid access pigmented lesion clinics and link with the multidisciplinary team meetings in
MMUH. The post holder will be expected to participate in the provision of phototherapy, day-care, patch
testing, management of complex skin diseases, surgery for skin cancer, multidisciplinary care of chronic
skin disease and skin cancer MDTs.
Specialist medical opinion and clinical consultations will be provided for patients in the Regional Hospital
Mullingar as appropriate and at the request of medical colleagues
