    The Raise Academy is a brand-newschool opening in September 2024. The school will specialise in supporting upto 64 pupils aged

    The Raise Academy pupils will have theopportunity to be engaged in a wide range of vocational and practical subjectsthat will give them new opportunities to progress personally, socially andacademically.

    The curriculum will be underpinned by high quality and supportiveMaths, English and Science and all lessons will be taught in small classes ofup to 8 pupils, with teachers, learning mentors and pastoral/teachingassistants.

    Our aim is toreignite that love for learning that may have been lost at some point, throughinspirational teaching and provision of opportunity.

    This role carrieswith it a manageable teaching commitment.

    • Deliver teaching within the academy (own subject), as required,modelling excellence in specialist SEN teaching.
    • Support effective teaching and learning throughout the academy andmonitor and evaluate the individual progress made, effectively using benchmarksto track and set targets for improvements.
    • Support and maintain an environment and a code of behaviour anddiscipline which promotes and secures good teaching, effective learning, andhigh standards of achievement.
    • Support and maintain the mental health and wellbeing of the studentswhich promotes and secures good teaching, effective learning and high standardsof achievement.
    • Help organise the curriculum and its assessment, working with theleadership team to monitor and evaluate it, in order to identify areas forimprovement.
    • Ensure that literacy and numeracy progression is prioritised andtargeted across the whole school consistently.
    • Deliver and support the PSHE and RSE programmes across the school.
    Undertake day-to-dayco-ordination of provision for secondary pupils with SEND, through closeliaison with staff, parents and external agencies.


    • Work with all stakeholdersto co-ordinate their contribution, provide maximum support and ensurecontinuity of provision for all pupils with SEND.
    • Work with external agenciesto maximise resources made available, including coordinating, collecting andinterpreting specialist assessment data to inform practice.
    • Support provision to ensurethat progress of pupils with SEND is achieved.
    • Support the identificationof and disseminate the most effective teaching approaches for individual pupilswith SEND.
    • designing and adapting teaching approaches andinterventions; Provide professionalguidance to staff to secure good teaching for pupils with SEND.
    • Support all staff inunderstanding the needs of SEND pupils.
    • Advise on and contribute tothe professional development of staff, including whole school INSET provision.
    • Ensure a graduated approachto all interventions and support.
    • Ensure learning support andany enhanced provision are integral to and aligned with all whole schoolpolicies.
    • Monitor progress towardstargets for pupils with SEND.
    • Analyse and interpretrelevant school, local and national data.
    • Co-ordinate, attend andchair Annual Reviews and ILP reviews where appropriate, using a 'person centredplanning' approach.
    Promote SEND and inclusionas a whole school responsibility.


    • Work with all stakeholdersto ensure all pupils' learning is of equal importance and there are high andrealistic expectations of pupils.
    • Involve colleagues in reviewing theSEND policy and collaborate on other related policies.
    • Ensure that the academycarries out its statutory responsibilities regarding all students with anEducation, Health and Care Plan.
    • Ensure that the academycarries out its statutory responsibilities concerning whole school SEND; e.g.writing and reviewing the SEND Information Report.
    • Advise the leadership teamof priorities for deployment of staff, and utilise resources with maximumefficiency.
    • Maintain and developresources, co-ordinate their deployment and monitor their effectiveness inmeeting the objectives of academy and SEND policies.
    • Contribute to theperformance management of support staff.
    • Undertake any other reasonable duties in the best interest of pupils orthe wider school community.

    Evidence of recent and appropriate professional development

    • Experience of writing and reviewing policies
    • Experience of leading staff training
    • Experience of giving constructive feedback to colleagues re analysingand interpreting data
    • Qualified Teacher Status in the UK
    • Teaching experience within the secondary sector
    • Established and evidenced practice with children with a variety of SEND.
    • An excellent knowledge of a range of teaching, learning and behavioursupport strategies and how to use them effectively
    • Planning and delivery of clear, focussed, successful lessons
    • Ability to adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners
    • Knowledge of the range and type of interventions and provision availableto support pupils with SEND
    • Already holds the National Award for SEN Co-ordination (or willingto complete the NPQ SENCO qualification)
