I am currently seeking an experienced Account Assistant to join the accounts team of a law firm based in central Huddersfield.

This role is ideally suited to someone with previous experience of working within an accounts function, you will be highly numerate with a strong eye for detail.

This is a busy role that will require you to manage all financial transactions generated by the law firm, ensuring all transactions are managed within the SRA's accounts rules.


Duties will include:

  • Process all transactions for the law firm and provide general accounts assistance to the group finance team.
  • Cashiering, banking, and raising ad hoc cheques
  • Preparing proposed payments lists for BACS and CHAPS payment runs
  • Preparation of weekly client/office account reconciliation and investigating differences
  • Preparation of weekly client ledger reconciliations
  • Liaising with the Compliance Officer and finance team, reporting any breaches and developing risk register and controls
  • Liaise with fee earners and support staff to ensure finance processes are embedded
  • Working in a fast paced, busy environment
  • Being able to prioritise work loads
  • Investigating and resolving any balances on the ledgers after the files have completed
  • Bank reconciliation/Customer Billing
  • General Administration and assistance to the fee earners and staff within the finance department
  • Experience of working with Eclipse Proclaim Management Software is desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience working within a finance department of a law firm is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working to SRA Accounts Rules is desirable but not essential
  • The ability to work well under pressure and towards tight deadlines
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Highly numerate
  • Ability to work to a high level of accuracy with an eye for detail
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • The ability to communicate professionally at all levels within the firm
  • Good time keeper
  • A good team player, but also the ability to work on own initiative
  • Good data input skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel Skills
  • Flexible approach to work

Job Types:

Salary:
£21,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
