    The Operations Engineer will be based on Flotta, Orkney and will be required to provide support for, and assist with, ongoing project work both onshore and offshore for internal and external clients. You will be involved with construction, installation, operation and removal of process and laboratory equipment on and off site, as well as the planned programme of maintenance of the main building, process facilities and utilities on the Flotta site.

    An appreciation of the commercial implications of engineering decision making, with a keen focus on delivery and a proactive approach throughout the project are critical to your success in this role.

    Your day to day will involve:

    • To assist project teams with the construction, installation, operation and decommissioning of process and laboratory equipment in a safe and competent manner.
    • Participate in, and contribute towards, the wide variety of testing programs undertaken at Flotta. This will generally involve anything from pipework fabrication to operation of bespoke analytical equipment (training will be provided).
    • You will be required to gain an understanding of the base trains, the capabilities and how to utilise the suite of process equipment to provide suitable conditions to undertake process equipment evaluations.
    • You will have an eagerness and willingness to learn new skills and tools, as well as develop an understanding of the processes.
    • You will be willing to travel to support projects in the North Sea and other Global regions such as the Americas, Europe or Middle East.
    • This work is mainly vessel internal installation or Fluids Characterisation. Training will be provided and mobilisation will only be granted once deemed competent.

    Your skills and knowledge will include:

    • Apprenticeship or similar qualification in mechanical engineering or similar discipline (preferably)
    • Previous mechanical engineering experience
    • Technical experience within the oil, water, waste or alternative energy industries (preferably)
    • Practical 'hands-on' skills
    • Knowledge of operating and maintaining pumps and motors (desirable)
    • Computer literacy (MS Office package)
