    Deputy Chief Medical Officer

    A fantastic opportunity exists at HBSUK for a part-time Deputy Medical Director to work three days a week. This position will place you at the center of the organisation's strategic agenda. In addition to carrying out creative enhancements to our broader service offering, you will be in charge of creating and constructing the roadmap for our core services. Working with partners and external and internal stakeholders, you'll give frequent presentations to the executive leadership team and play a critical strategic role in the company's success.

    This role requires clinical seniority to hold credibility with clinical leads and external partners. Experience in governance, training and data management is important. The role would work across the company functions representing Clinical in Governance, Product development andsales. Certain functions would be passed to the deputy CMO in entirety with CMO oversight, others the deputy would provide a supporting function.

    • Clinical support to complaints management
    • Delivery of monthly and quarterly Clinical Governance reports
    • Reporting on Clinical Safety strategy and KPIs
    • Reporting on Digital Excellence strategy and KPIs
    • Delivery of Clinical Insights outputs

    Main Responsibilities

    • Deputising for and supporting the CMO in all aspects of Quality, Safety and Governance of the Clinical Services.
    • To deputise for the CMO, escalating any issues of concern with potential solutions.
    • Encourage the development of a "just culture" and a culture of ongoing improvement.
    • Participate in the implementation of the yearly work plan, integrated governance strategy, and other pertinent strategic policies.
    • Serve as the organization's deputy chair of the Quality and Safety Committee, advancing the quality improvement agenda in collaboration with the Chief Nurse and CMO.
    • Assist the Clinical Leads in their investigation of occurrences or complaints.
    • Contribute to and offer guidance on any pertinent initiatives that call for a medical viewpoint, such as internal investigations (including those involving serious incidents), complaints, doctor-related "Do Not Book" (disciplinary) issues, regulatory or accreditation processes, and the creation of new specialties or clinical services, supporting the Clinical Leads as needed.
    • Ensure the safety of the medical resources; provide constructive criticism and serve as a critical friend to promote sound decision-making.
    • Provide advice on clinical governance plans, audits, systems and procedures, and performance that incorporates learning from complaints, incidents, audits, and other data sources to promote change in collaboration with the CMO, Chief Nurse, and Governance Officer.
    • Act as an advocate for HBSUK Support and contribute to the wider health and organisational agenda as appropriate.
    • Assume joint responsibility in promoting HBSUK within the wider healthcare network, in order to create sustainable partnerships within the healthcare sector.
    • The post-holder would be required to carry out the legislative requirements of The Medical Profession Regulations 2010 in collaboration with the CMO by making sure that strong clinical governance systems are in place and that all clinicians and clinical leads actively participate in order to guarantee high standards of patient care.
    • Clinical governance management, delivery, reporting and oversight.
    • Deputise in governance reporting and meeting attendance with NHS customers, providers and AXA
    • Clinical support to complaints management.
    • Leadership of Clinical Safety and Digital Excellence programmes including clinician training performance and development.
    • Develop Clinical MI strategy and reporting with in-house clinical leads.
    • Senior clinical input and leadership and support for Insights and academic functions
    • Senior clinical input to product development informed by Clinical governance, safety and Digital excellence.
    • Support and engage with clinical leads' contributions to new service development, mobilisation and delivery including local engagement, governance and promotion of services
    • Support sales presentations and external partnership management.

    Professional Leadership

    • Be actively involved in the selection the selection process to identify new Clinical Leads, making sure they understand their roles and duties and receive assistance as they are assimilated into the company.
    • Assist medical staff in navigating professional and managerial matters by acting as a visible role model and elevating concerns to the CMO or other executive team members as needed.
    • Support the clinical leads to take an active role in the creation of new services and specialisations, NHS contracts, and medical staffing in order to make sure the company complies with national guidelines, rules, procedures, and legal and regulatory requirements.
    • Provide input and expertise when requested on document responses and marketing, as appropriate, ensuring they are clinically sustainable, evidence-based and appropriate
    • Build strong relationships with external parties to enhance the sustainability of HBSUK and represent both medical opinion and the organisation at external groups and events as appropriate, inspire the Clinical Leads to follow suit.

    Requirements

    Education

    • GMC Specialist Registered Consultant
    • Evidence of relevant professional postgraduate qualifications
    • Postgraduate degree CCT

    Experience

    • 10 years' experience as practicing Consultant
    • 3-5 Years as a Clinical Lead or above.
    • Management of a clinical team including HR management
    • Current experience of clinical practice in a relevant care setting
    • Working in partnership with MDT and the ability to negotiate and work across professional boundaries / organisations
    • Clinical Governance, risk management, incident management and handling complaints

    Knowledge & Skills

    • 10 years' experience as practicing Consultant or above.
    • Management of a clinical team including HR management.
    • Current experience of clinical practice in a relevant care setting.
    • Working in partnership with MDT and the ability to negotiate and work across professional boundaries / organisations.
    • Clinical Governance, risk management, incident management and handling complaints.
