PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

We are looking for a strong commercial lawyer with experience of at least one of the following sectors: retail & consumer, financial services, advanced manufacturing, aviation, digital, and health.

Associates

As a junior Associate you should be able to manage your own workload with help from supporting partners and managing associates, handling a spread of commercial work, preparing and negotiating a range of commercial contracts for clients on both the customer and supplier side as well as managing transactions across IT, data protection and intellectual property issues.

This is a high performing, cohesive and busy team with excellent prospects for career development, and secondments, if you want them.

Managing Associates

As a senior member in the team, you will play a key part in shaping and driving the development of the junior team members and there will be plenty of opportunity for you to take on additional responsibility and advance your career.

You will focus on big-ticket stand-alone outsourcing and commercial contract matters.

Our expertise covers the full scope of commercial work, from providing a view on the enforceability of key provisions through to major deals involving a team of lawyers committed to a project for several months, major contract reviews and joint ventures.

We also run legal helplines, providing some of our clients with day-to-day support when negotiating various commercial contracts.

Addleshaw Goddard has a clear roadmap for senior progression with specific development programs, a collaborative and driven team culture, flexibility, trust, autonomy, and really good quality work.

Travel across our offices is expected from time to time and we actively encourage flexible working with a minimum of three days a week in the office.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

We would expect that you will have gained some experience in a comparable practice or worked in an in-house role.

You will have demonstrated good technical and analytical skills, a keen intellect, and a commercial mindset.

You should be able to demonstrate that you are able to provide pragmatic, robust and tailored advice and can communicate advice not only in writing but also to clients in meetings and calls.

You will have:

  • Experience gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level
  • Desire and ability to develop strong working relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Clear understanding and working experience of the operation and structure of a commercial law firm and the needs of the client
  • Strong commercial awareness but most importantly a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in the work of the team
