    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1 year fixed term Band 4 dietetic assistant position at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.


    care in the following clinical areas:

    blood, cells and cancer, dermatology, renal, urology, respiratory, cardiac, surgery, neonatal and paediatric intensive care, orthopaedics, ENT, gastroenterology, ketogenic, metabolic and endocrinology.

    You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of highly specialiseddietitians, providing a quality clinical service to in and outpatients across the paediatric age range in the above clinical areas.

    successful applicant should be confident in Excel, Word and general computer skills. Their role will include a number of responsibilities including basic inpatient and outpatient reviews, monitoring

    patient anthropometry, arranging meals for children on exclusion diets or blended diets, carrying out food product research, arranging patient discharge including enteral tube feed set up and GP prescriptions, administrative tasks and evaluating the service with audits and service evaluations.

    To support the department with a range of duties including appropriate inpatient and outpatient reviews, monitoring patient anthropometry, undertaking simple calculations, arranging meals for children on specialist diets, undertaking dietary assessment using food analysis technology, arranging an effortless patient discharge including setting up enteral tube feeds for home, liaison with community services and arranging GP prescriptions
    To demonstrate good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to exercise diplomacy and a good telephone manner.
    To send relevant documentation to enteral feed company databases as directed
    To have a knowledge of and understanding the principles behind how accurate and timely data collection helps the Trust to deliver patient care now and in the future
    To participate in the collection of data and assist in the monitoring of key performance indicators as agreed by the unit management team

    Under the supervision of the diet services supervisors prepare special feeds and diets in the special feed unit and Diet kitchen when necessary and meet the trust requirement for health and safety and food handling.

    The basic food hygiene course must be successfully completed.

    Experience of using databases or information systems
