    Job summary

    Compass is the provider of Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) in education settings in the city of Derby and Derbyshire.

    We have had an opportunity arise for a Supervising Practitioner based from our Centre of excellence in Glossop

    This role is a real opportunity to help shape the services we provide with children, young people, families and educational settings and to develop your career in mental health support to children, young people and families.

    Successful candidates who do not already possess the post graduate certificate in supervision will be supported in undertaking a year in part-time study at Derby University.

    Main duties of the job

    As well as already holding a core mental health qualification, candidates will either have a Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision or ability and willingness to attain PG Cert. within the first year of employment.

    You will need to demonstrate in your application that you have the ability to study at degree level and have a core professional qualification relevant to mental health. You should also have post graduate experience working with children and young people and an understanding of the principles and practice of CBT and clinical supervision.

    You will be knowledgeable and experienced in working with CYP with mental health needs; completing mental health assessments, providing practice supervision and support as well as providing specialist care directly to children and young people and families.

    Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network with other agencies as central to the role.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Core professional and/or clinical qualification) EMHP, CWP, PMHW, nursing with specialism in mental health or learning disability nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work) and must be committed to maintaining registration if applicable
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Supervision (EMHP supervisor course)
  • or
  • Two years post qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people and willingness to undertake PG Cert if required
  • Desirable

  • Management / supervision training
  • Therapeutic post graduate qualification (ideally in low intensity CBT)
  • Post Graduate qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Mentorship qualification
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Two years post qualification experience of working therapeutically with children and young people , as an EMHP/CYP-IAPT practitioner
  • Experience of line management and/or delivery of clinical supervision
  • Experience of delivering CBT informed supervision, ideally of practice related to education settings
  • Experience of working in a community and/or educational environment
  • Evidence of clinical development in practice
  • Experience of effective engagement with CYPF
  • Risk assessment and management in the delivery of clinical services (including safeguarding)

  • Experience of leadership within Children and Young People clinical service areas
  • Experience of providing mentorship
  • Experience of organising team duties
