This role sits within the Refugee, Migrant and Asylum Seeker Service (RMAS). There are around 400 Ukranians in the borough.LB Hackney work with Ukrainian guests to support them during the settling in period, as well as supported with integration issues ranging from education and skills, employment support, welfare, wellbeing services, English language provision, housing advice etc.
This role will work directly with the Support Workers who offer one-to-one advice, guidance and advocacy for Ukrainian guests, to support the meeting with both in person interpreting as well as written translations.
Skills & experience:
- Must be fluent, verbal and in writing, in English and Ukrainian
- A good understanding of confidentiality.
- Good interpersonal skills, required for building good rapport with people in a short space of time.
- Good organisational skills
- Deliver onetoone and/or group sessions to support access to services
- Established experience of working with refugees, asylum seekers or migrants (people with lived experience are particularly welcome)
- Solutions focussed with a cando approach. Proactively and independently finding solutions to barriers.
