  • Deliver compassionate excellence via a patient focused clinical pharmacy service, in accordance with national medicines optimisation principles and local clinical pharmacy procedures.
  • To lead in developing the pharmacy service and adapting to changing service needs in the Emergency Assessment Unit (EAU).
  • To manage the pharmacy team working in the Emergency Assessment Unit which includes rotational pharmacists, medicines management technicians and ward- based assistants and to deputise for the Lead medicine pharmacist as needed.
  • To lead and support training and development of pharmacy colleagues including trainee pharmacists and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • To work closely with the wider pharmacy team to optimise transfer of patient care.
  • To continually develop your knowledge and be an expert and advocate in acute medicine.
  • To promote and represent antimicrobial stewardship, medicine effectiveness and medicine safety in EAU.
  • To work collaboratively with the Medicine Pharmacy team in accordance with Trust values.
  • Main duties of the job

    Clinical Practice Role

  • To provide a ward-based clinical pharmacy service according to Trust agreed standards.
  • To maintain a clinical expertise and develop particular areas of interest as appropriate and in accordance with the Trust and Pharmacy strategy.
  • To provide clinical pharmacy cover to other ward areas within the team on a reciprocal basis.
  • To ensure medicines are used appropriately, safely and cost-effectively in accordance with Trust policy, standard operating procedures and medicines legislation.
