    An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department as a Specialty Doctor.

    This is a Basic 10 session contract with no on call commitment

    As one of our Specialty Doctors you will be based at Morriston Hospital Swansea, with sessions at other sites within our LHB. Your duties will include mainly outpatient clinic sessions as well as the delivery of minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetic and local anaesthetic/IV sedation. You may well be required to undertake General Anaesthetic day case surgery as the need arises. The bulk of the operative surgery will be oral surgery, particularly dento-alveolar surgery

    Main duties of the job

    This is a replacement post joining a busy Oral & Maxillofacial Department. As one of our Specialty Doctors you will be based at Morriston Hospital Swansea, with sessions at other sites within our LHB.

    Your duties will include mainly outpatient clinic sessions as well as the delivery of minor surgical procedures under local anaesthetic and local anaesthetic/IV sedation. You may well be required to undertake General Anaesthetic day case surgery as the need arises. The bulk of the operative surgery will be oral surgery, particularly dento-alveolar surgery.

    This is a 10 session post with no on call commitment at present. The successful applicant may be suitable to undertake second on call duties appropriate to previous experience and will certainly be encouraged to contribute to our educational programme.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Full GMC/GDC Registration
  • Four years full time postgraduate training (or part time equivalent), at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty
  • Desirable

  • Further relevant degree/diploma/teaching qualification
  • MFDS or recognized equivalent
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Evidence of working effectively as a part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Up to date with current practices in Restorative Dentistry
  • Working as part of the management team
  • Teaching and training of post/undergraduate medical staff
  • Evidence of participation in, progressing and completing audit
  • Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS/experience of NHS working practices and systems.
  • Experience of research in Dentistry
  • Skills & Abilities

    Essential

  • Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
