    Where in Wellcome will I be working?

    You will be leading the portfolio and programme management for Corporate Affairs,reporting to the Associate Director of Strategic Communications, Planning and Insight.

    The Strategic Communications, Planning and Insight team are responsible for the strategic approaches, communications planning, and high-levelportfolio management of Corporate Affairs' work.

    Corporate Affairsis a broad, multi-disciplinary department whose purpose is to grow Wellcome's influence and reputation for the advancement of Wellcome's mission, advocateand influence for change, enable communities and promote Wellcome's activity, funding and positions.It consists of the following teams: brand, campaigns and cultural partnerships, communications, community engagement,insight, strategic communications and planning, and sustainability.

    What will I be doing?

    You will be accountable for establishing, embedding,andas required, running the processes and forums that support the management of the Corporate Affairs' portfolio which consistsof multiple programmes and areas of work as set out in the department's annual delivery plan. You will also support Corporate Affair senior leadership and management teams to improve programme and delivery capacity and capability and ensure Corporate Affairs processes work with Wellcome'sbroaderstrategic programme management.

    As aPortfolio Delivery Lead, we will be asking you to deliver the following during your fixed term contract:

  • Facilitate the annual delivery planning process and quarterly reviewsfor Corporate Affairs, working with teams across the department and colleaguesin Wellcome's Finance team and Strategy and Programme Office, building on lessons from previous iterations to streamline and improve the process. ​
  • Develop and establish a regular monitoring processthat improves visibility of the Corporate Affairs portfolio and its health for the senior leadership team. This will include establishing ways to track delivery progress across the portfolio, triaging portfolio blockers, bottlenecks, and risks (whether delivery, operational or team based). In doing so you will need to work with Corporate Affairs management toembed this change to process, and ensuresuccessful feedback loops and communication between leadership, programme leads and the department.
  • Facilitate the development of cross-departmenttools and processes that help to standardising our ways of working. Specifically, completing the roll out and embedding of for Corporate Affairs.
  • Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating acrossdepartments.

    We are looking for someone who has significant experience of developing and establishing ways of working and processes that improve the management of a portfolio or programme across a broad set of multi-disciplinaryteams. This might include drawing on project, programme, and portfolio management approaches. Youwill also have experience of working withorganisation-wide,strategic management processes, contextualising them for your team and department's needs.

    You are passionate about developing ways of working and processes that are people-centred and focused on continuous learning and improvement. You have a deep understanding of group dynamics and communication and are motivated to support others to grow their confidence in programme and delivery management.

    You will have:

  • Considerable experience working collaboratively with different types of teams, helping design and embed new processes, ways of working and productsthat work across them. Demonstrable skills in change management.
  • Considerable experience of programme or portfolio management in a large multi-disciplinary team or department.
  • A deep understanding of communication and group dynamics, and strong coaching skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively influence individuals and teams from a wide variety of backgrounds and levels within the organisation.
  • Analytical and creative approach to problem-solving, especially problems involving people.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement.
