    This is an assistance and administration role within the Corporate Governance team. The Corporate Governance Officer will support delivery of the highest standards of corporate governance in the Trust, ensuring compliance with the regulatory framework, Trust licence, relevant legislation and Trust Constitution. The postholder will support efficient and effective running of the Board of Directors, Council of Governors, and Committee meetings by providing comprehensive organisation and administrative support.

    The postholder may also be required to support the Royal Surrey Charity and the Trust's subsidiaries as required.

    Main duties of the job The postholder is accountable to the Head of Corporate Governance, working closely with the Corporate Governance Manager. They will assist in maintaining the highest levels of corporate governance to ensure the Foundation Trust is adequately prepared and complies with the regulatory framework enforced by NHS England. The postholder will provide support to the Board, Council, and associated sub-committees as required. They will also support the Royal Surrey Charity and the Trust's subsidiaries, including administrative / secretarial support where required.

    The postholder is expected to work on their own authority and initiative, prioritising their own time to ensure that deadlines are met, and work in close collaboration with the Head of Corporate Governance, Corporate Governance Manager, Chair, Governors, Non-Executive Directors, CEO, Executive Directors, Executive PAs, and partnership organisations. The post holder must be able to embrace working in a dynamic and demanding office environment, while maintaining a high level of focus and attention to detail on specific tasks.     The postholder must:
    • Be educated to degree level or have equivalent work experience
    • Have excellent communication, organisation, and administration skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint effectively, and take meeting minutes
    • Be able to work with a high level of autonomy, and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines.
    Additional Information

    This is a full-time role with Monday-Friday working hours. The postholder may be required to work unsocial hours on an occasional basis in order to facilitate meetings.

    This role is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital (Guildford hospital site). Hybrid working may be considered in line with the Trusts flexible working policy. Person Specification Qualifications Essential
    • Educated to degree level or equivalent
    Knowledge and Experience Essential
    • Previous relevant experience in a high-level administrative role
    • Experience in providing robust support to senior teams
    • Strong evidence of experience in handling complex arrangements to a high degree of accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness, including managing multiple deadlines
    • Understanding of the role and relationships between the Trust Chair, Chief Executive, Executive and Non-Executive Directors
    • Understanding of the NHS and its infrastructure, the role of NHS Foundation Trusts and the regulation thereof
    • Understanding the roles and relationships between Council of Governors and Board of Directors
    Desirable
    • Experience of working within an organisation under public and political scrutiny
    • Experience of corporate governance / regulatory compliance systems and processes
    Skills and Capabilities Essential
    • Good typing skills and ability produce meeting minutes
    • Able to evidence application of advanced planning and organisational management skills and delivery of tasks
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
