Job description:

Axon Moore are working exclusively with a successful SME retail / ecommerce business based in the Manchester area who are looking for an interim Finance Director to join our team to support our ambitious growth plans and assist in the development and professionalizing of the Finance Department in order to provide a robust platform for future expansion and growth.

Managing a growing team, you will take responsibility for mentoring and upskilling the team.

Duties:

Establish a culture of strong financial control, governance and risk management.
Produce clear, concise and informative management reporting to strict deadlines.
Lead all financial planning and analysis (FP&A), including forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management, reporting against forecasts and responding proactively.
Provide technical accounting advice and expertise and lead financial projects liaising closely with the Directors.
Ensure appropriate finance / debt facilities are in place and manage relationships with, and performance of, external providers to enable the business to scale.
Manage corporate governance & compliance including business insurance and regular / ad hoc legislative requirements.
Establish, maintain and manage all audit and internal control processes.
Ensure Balance Sheet items, including stock and cash, are tightly controlled and reconciled.
Prepare detailed reports on the company's financial performance.
Ensure compliance with, and accurate reporting of taxes including PAYE / NIC, VAT, Corporation Tax, Global Sales Taxes, Customs & Duties.
Lead, motivate and develop the finance team to be a bestinclass finance function.
Work closely with the commercial departments to provide insight to help drive growth.
Recognize patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
Management of all commercial IP such as trademarks / domains.
Working with the Product/Merchandising teams to oversee seasonal buying and reporting on gross margin and stock levels.

Person Specification:

An experienced financial director who has worked within a fastpaced environment.
Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
Experience in a direct to consumer ecomm business ideally within Fashion or FMCG.
Knowledge of, and experience in implementing, finance systems and knowledge of the Shopify ecomm platform would be an advantage.
Previous experience managing and developing a high performing team.
